Nemo Submarine - Custom 8x10 Illustration

My friend asked me to paint an illustration version of a picture of her son in a little Nemo carneval ride. I just finished the painting this evening.

I added the glass dome and the ocean around him for fun.

Preview - Paris!

Just to prove that I'm not slacking, here is a preview of 4 of the 12 Paris ACEOs I'm working on. I still need to add color, I think I'll experiment with some more fluid and sketch-like color addition though.

Arc de Triomphe

Notre Dame

Eiffel Tower

Venus of Milo, profile

Keep in mind that each ACEO painting is only 2.5x3.5 inches... the detail in the buildings is tiny!

July 9-19 ACEOs - Colorful Dinosaur Doodles!

In the midst of painting 5 custom paintings I also tried to keep up with my Everyday Art project... so here are 11 fun little dinosaur doodles. They aren't by any means the height of my artistic output, but they were fun, nonetheless. :o)

Wednesday, July 20, 2011 mailing small pieces of myself.

Look at what is all matted and ready to mail in the morning:

Why is it so hard to say goodbye to original paintings? It almost feels like I'm mailing away a little piece of myself. Then I remind myself of the joy my art will (hopefully) bring someone, and then I feel ok about it. :o)

Do all artists feel this way?

Custom Art - 8x10 "Sam's Schooner"

Here is another 8x10 custom painting I finished this weekend. My cousin is decorating her son's room in a nautical theme, and asked me to paint little Sam a ship.

I had fun painting the waves - it ended up being easier than I had thought.

8x10 prints of this painting are now available in my Etsy shop!!!

Custom Art - 8x10 "T-Rex and his Favorite Boy"

My sweet friend asked me to paint something fun for her son. She told me that he loves blue, loves reading, and loves dinosaurs and whales...
I hope you love your painting, young man N!

Custom Art - 8x10 "Miss K's Hair Time"

A while back Miss K's Mom contacted me on Etsy, asking if I had 8x10 prints available of the "Hair Time" art. Unfortunately, I don't enlarge those paintings that big because I didn't want to risk losing resolution - remember that the originals are after all just 2.5" x 3.5" !!!

I offered to paint a custom set of Hair Time, looking like cute little K, in the 8x10 size - and here they are!

Miss K's Hair Time 1

Miss K's Hair Time 2

Miss K's Hair Time 3

This was SUCH a fun project! (Have I mentioned that I LOVE painting children??!)

Keep in mind that I took these photos late at night, under electric light... the colors are much prettier in real life. Also, the skin tones actually are the same in each of the 3 paintings, the camera just picked them up differently.

~Can I paint YOU a custom piece?

I now have 8x10 prints of these paintings available in my Etsy shop!

July 3-8 ACEOs

Some of you are probably wondering why I painted even more eyes? I am using watercolor paper from a sampler I got a while back, and I can fit 12-13 ACEOs per sheet. Often I will cut the sheet up into groups of 3 or so ACEOs. This time I left all of them together. For the sake of simplicity, it seemed like a good idea to paint a bunch of eyes... never mind that it got a little tiring in the end!
