June 13 &14 ACEOs

June 13 ACEO

June 14 ACEO - A son meeting his Momma. I will have prints of this painting available in my Etsy shop soon!

June 4-12 ACEOs... hope the wait was worth it!

I still need to finish the final 2 paintings in this series... but I finished these ones, and so, decided to post them. Thank you for your patience - I hope the wait was worth it!

I have been thinking about and praying for orphans in Africa a lot lately. This is what prompted me to paint this little series.

June 4 ACEO -

June 5 ACEO

June 6 ACEO

June 7 ACEO - this painting had a funky fiber in the paper, so it looks like the little guy has a laser beam coming out of his eye. Unfortunately, there isn't really anything I can do about this.

June 8 ACEO

June 9 ACEO - this painting is one of my favorites. It was so much fun to paint the colorful fabric! I think I will paint a series of African women wearing colorfully printed clothes... sometime in the near future...

June 10 ACEO

June 11 ACEO

June 12 ACEO

I will post the final 2 in the next few days. These paintings definitely took longer than a lot of the other ones I've done for the Everyday Art project, although I have noticed that I have gotten a LOT faster than I used to be. I wanted to see if my "traditional" portrait watercolor skills were still any good, and I had so much fun!

June 3 ACEO - very over-due

I apologize for the long lapse in posting. Between having a garage sale, cutting my finger (in prepping for the garage sale), and travelling to a wedding, I just haven't had much time to paint. Of course I had the brilliant idea to paint some more detailed and realistic paintings of children NOW, so the 11 paintings I've been working on are just plain taking a longer time. I want to post them as a set, but here is one of them, just to give you a little taste for what is to come. The other 10 should be finished in the next 2 or so days.

Here is the pencil sketch before any fine black ink lines or color were added.

June 3 ACEO (18 days late): Here is the finished painting. I am always amazed at how much of a difference color can make.

I felt like painting some more high-quality, detailed, realistically shaded paintings. I've been doing simplified illustration-style paintings for so long that I wanted to see if my other watercolor skills had gotten rusty. I would say, they might have, just a little, but it shouldn't be hard to re-activate them...

Sneak Peek!

Right now I am working on 11 (well, 12 really, but I haven't decided what one of them will be) little paintings of orphans. I hope to finish them over the weekend, but wanted to give everyone a little sneak peek into what my paintings look like before I add color! I used a softer pencil than I usually do, and am considering just not adding the black ink lines. We shall see!

May 30 - June 2 ACEOs

Courtesy of a nasty cut on my right ring finger, and because I was crazy busy getting ready for our garage sale... I'm about a week behind in my little paintings. Here are 4 fun little doodles that I painted. Obviously these won't win any art prizes any time soon, but they were still fun to do!

Forced Break

I cut my right ring finger on some glass! Really badly! Right on the knuckle... grrr. The bottom line is that I can't paint or draw for a few days because that finger is splinted, and is in the way. :o( I'll get caught up again in a few days though!
