...like mailing small pieces of myself.

Look at what is all matted and ready to mail in the morning:

Why is it so hard to say goodbye to original paintings? It almost feels like I'm mailing away a little piece of myself. Then I remind myself of the joy my art will (hopefully) bring someone, and then I feel ok about it. :o)

Do all artists feel this way?

  1. I have a really hard time letting go of originals. I almost always give them away to someone I know rather than sell them to someone I don't know. Not a very good business plan, I know. :)

Your paintings are very nice, by the way...

  2. In the past I've given them to people I know, but now I'm doing more custom paintings, and selling them to people I don't know. It gets easier. Now I'm thinking of raiding my drawer of finished paintings... I really don't need them to just sit around in my drawer!
